At the beginning of this year I said that I’d really like to travel and I want it to be work. One must really watch what you wish for. In my case, I wished for something positive and it was a good thing!
July saw me packing my bags for Mozambique. I have never travelled on the African continent and heading to Mozambique is definitely a great place to start.
Elsje Tieleman, a South African soapie actress had decided to start a new venture in Mozambique and invited the BRAVO! team along to enjoy it with her. She even allowed me to fly out earlier to enjoy some time to myself before starting to shoot for BRAVO! We headed to Linga Linga island, which is an hour’s ferry ride from Inhambane.
Due to many flight delays, I got there a bit late, so I just had dinner and went to bed.
On the Sunday I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and then we headed to Pansy Island. Pansy island is so called because everywhere you will find these beautiful shells, with a flower pattern on it. Pansy’s are little sea creatures and once they wash up on shore, they leave these shells behind. It’s best to visit this island with low tide as it disappears when the tide comes in.
I wish I could’ve spent more time in Mozambique, more time to watch the dolphins swimming by while enjoying breakfast. The island is quite small, but so richly Mozambican, if that makes sense. The people are warm, kind and proud and I left already wanting to plan a holiday here.
